Arizona Bass Players Festival and Workshop 2008

Arizona Bass Players Festival and Workshop (March 6-9, 2008). The four-day event featured events on Thursday in Tucson, and Tempe. Friday thru Sunday was in Tempe at ASU, School of Music. Guest Artists: Rufus Reid (jazz), Robert Kassinger (Classical, Jazz and Rock), and Miloslav Jelinek (from the Czech Republic, Classical), Patrick Neher, Catalin Rotaru, and Joel DiBartolo performed and presented master classes.

Don Robertson of Robertson and Sons Violin Shop in Albuquerque, NM sponsored our first solo competition, where a double bass from Robertson's was the Grand Prize, won by Chunyang Wang, of New York City (bass pictured to the right).

Liben Music Publishers, SMR Basses and Patrick Neher provided scholarships for needy participants.
