Arizona Bass Players Festival ARIZONA BASS PLAYERS


Arizona Bass Players Festival, March 5-8, 2009 at ASU School of Music. Clinicians / Performers will be:

Patrick Neher, U. of A. bass professor and multi-genre, multi-media artist who has made a reputation with avante-garde performances

Catalin Rotaru, ASU bass professor who is equally well versed in classical and jazz music. His latest CD has pioneered transcriptions from the cello repertory, before thought unplayable on the bass!

Joel DiBartolo, NAU bass professor who specializes in jazz performance. Former member of the Tonight Show Band and touring artist.

John Clayton (Jazz), Numerous recordings and collaborations with all the top jazz artists of the day, composer and pedagogue.

Thierry Barbé (Classical), Member of the Paris Opera (Paris, France), coordinator of large bass festivals in Europe, well known soloist and teacher, and adjudicator.

Ray Riendeau, an electric bass expert and Arizona resident who has toured and recorded with numerous jazz, funk, and pop artists.
Ray is a bassist most known for his work with singer Rob Halford (Judas Priest) and a recording / touring artist for Machines of Loving Grace, a band who was featured on the movie soundtrack "The Crow" which sold over 1,000,000 copies

Irena Olkiewicz is a beautiful player and teacher, and founder of the Polish Double Bass Society. She will be conducting a master class and lecture, over the course of two days at the 2009 Festival.
